Ighodaro Igbe

Dr Ighodaro Igbe is a senior lecturer and currently the Head of Department, Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Benin, Nigeria. He received his B.Pharm (2000), MSc (2007), PhD (2010) from the University of Benin but did his PhD research as a Visiting Research Scholar at Texas Southern University, Texas, USA (2008 – 2010). He joined the University of Benin in 2003 as an Assistant Lecturer, and rose through academic and administrative ranks to the position of a Senior Lecturer in 2013. His research is focused on Cardiovascular Pharmacology, Molecular biology and Ethnopharmacology. He has published several publications in peer reviewed journals. He is the assistant Editor of the Journal of African Association of Physiological Sciences (JAAPS) and Press Editor of the West African Journal of Pharmacology and Drug Research. Dr Ighodaro Igbe is a recipient of numerous Awards/Prizes, including Best overall student in final degree exam in Pharmacy (2000), Andrew Egbo’s prize, best student in pharmacy Law (2000), Prof. Kalkurni’s memorial prize, best student in final year degree examinations (2000), Stephen Oluwole Awokoya Foundation for Science Education scholar (2006), Best Lecturer, Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, University of Benin (2007), Graduate Student Travel Award by the American Society for Pharmacology & Experimental Therapeutics (2010). Dr Ighodaro Igbe is currently the Chairman, University of Benin Central Biomedical research Laboratory, Member of SERVICOM management committee, Chairman, University of Benin Bakery. He has also served as the Faculty of Pharmacy Examination Officer and member of the Taskforce on University of Benin Water Factory.
