Biography: 

Dr. Iro Aghedo is a lecturer in the Department of Political Science, University of Benin, Nigeria. He was educated at the universities of Ibadan and Benin in Nigeria, and at the College of North-West London and the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London in the UK. He specializes in comparative security and strategic studies, and has published widely in the subject area locally and internationally. He is the author of the entry ‘Boko Haram’ in Professor Richard C. Martin (2016) (ed.) Encyclopaedia of Islam and the Muslim World (2nd Edition), Michigan: Charles Scribner’s Sons/Gale, Cengage Learning.
