|Professor Jacob Odeh Ehiorobo is a Professor of Applied Geomatics, Water Resources and Environmental Systems Engineering. He received his MSc Surveying Engineering degree in Moscow in 1983 and a PhD in Water Resources and Environmental Systems Engineering from the University of Benin in 2008.
He joined the University of Benin, Department of Civil Engineering on transfer from Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma, as Lecturer I in 1991 and rose to the position of Professor in 2014. He is a Fellow, Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, FNIS, Member, Nigerian Society of Engineers (MNSE), Member, Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE) and a Member, Nigerian Association of Geodesy (MNAG).
His research focus includes; Environmental Hazard Monitoring and modelling with emphasis on Flood and Erosion as well as Deformation Survey and Analysis, GNSS Positioning for Engineering Applications and Navigation, Water resources Modelling and Integrated Watershed management, Highway and Geotechnical Engineering.
Professor Jacob Odeh Ehiorobo has authored over 70 Research Papers in learned journals and chapters in books both locally and internationally, and over 150 technical reports covering a wider range of fields including Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Surveys and Construction Measurements, Highways and Water Resources Infrastructures, Flood and Erosion as well as Environmental Impact and Post-impact studies.
Prof. J.O Ehiorobo was Assistant Dean of faculty of Engineering, University of Benin between 2004 and 2008 and currently the Dean of the New Faculty of Environmental Sciences, University of Benin. He is Managing Editor of the Journal of Civil and Environmental Systems Engineering and Editor in Chief of the Nigerian Journal of Environmental Science and Technology (NIJEST).
Prof. J.O Ehiorobo has supervised and still supervising a large number of students at the Undergraduate level in the Department of Civil Engineering University of Benin in addition to quite many postgraduate candidates at MEng and PhD levels in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering, Highway and Transportation Engineering as well as in Geotechnical Engineering. He is an active member of the European Commission/NEPAD Centre of Excellence in water Science and Technology research group for West Africa COE. Professor J. O. Ehiorobo is a recipient of several awards including the Distinguished Leadership in National Development Gold Award by Corporate and Media communications Limited, Meritorious Service Award by the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers, etc.
He is an active member of the Nigeria Society of Engineers, Benin Branch and has served as guest speaker at various events organised by the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE), both at the State and National levels in the past. He was recently listed in the book of “Who is Who” in Civil Engineering in Nigeria by the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers.
